A technology with a soul.
For twenty-five years, our founding mentor, Chaim, sat across from young people and did something rare: he helped them tell the truth about themselves. A Columbia graduate who spent a career guiding students into the world's most selective universities, he learned that the essays that moved readers — and the young people who thrived — were never the most polished. They were the most honest.
His method was never really about admissions. It was about helping a young person peel back the facades of daily life and recognize their own core — what he calls the original mind. To write from there takes courage. It takes the willingness to be vulnerable, the self-knowledge to see clearly, and the humility to grow.
That kind of mentorship was, for most of history, a privilege — available only to families who could afford it.
We founded Wordmuse Foundation to change that.
By pairing Chaim's Socratic method with AI, we can offer every young person the experience of being truly asked about themselves — regardless of wealth, nationality, or postcode. This is what we mean by democratizing the “technology of the soul”: using the coldest of tools to do the warmest of things.
We chose to do this as a nonprofit deliberately. Nurturing a child's inner life, safeguarding their private words, and building trust with families and schools cannot be the work of a sales organization. It has to belong to the public good.

A world where every young person — at home and abroad — understands their own worth, learns healthy character and responsible choice, and grows up to live not only for themselves, but for their family, community, and the world.
Mission
To help young people grow by brainstorming about themselves and writing about what it means to be human — and to fund access to college essay mentoring for students who can't afford it, so that opportunity follows character rather than wealth.
